I had one pregnancy that was a blighted ovum where my hcg did not double in a week, went from 148 to 172 in a week. My understanding was that this was to see whether hcg had continued to drop indicating a miscarriage or to potentially check for signs of an ectopic. If you worry about ball size, you can use HCG and dial in after this. The reason is, when you dial in with test only, you gonna know what blood numbers make you feel good, the ratio of test, e2, dht, all that shit.
