The bow bar was used extensively by the US Forest Service Hotshot fire fighting had crews in the south west in the '80s because it was very effective for cutting scrub, chaparral and other large brush to clear fire line. I have not seen any crews with these bars in a long time, not sure why.Otherwise, it sounds like there may be a problem with the low speed circuit in the carb. Is it really running perfectly at high speed - to check, find out how many turns out the H screw is, it should be around 1. I went out trying to cut some small sweetgums and the thing wouldn't really make any kind of horiz. cut. the chain moved fine but not cutting. i had to really force it through the wood; normally it pulls itself through. when the bar was in vert. position, it cut like a champ.The saw is very smooth and noticeably lighter and more nimble than my 70 cc saws and cuts through small and medium size wood just as fast. The tree today was an old apple tree with an oblong base of 20 X 22 inches. The saw cut very fast with the full length of the bar, I was very happy. They are very good 60cc saws but parts/dealership availability will only get worse in the coming years. I'm not trying to talk you out of a 6100, I really like mine, but you do need to take that into account.Use the Mfg. 2 stroke mix recommendations (use mfg or other top qual. 2 cycle oil) and run the saw like you normally would, avoiding hi revs for several tanks of fuel.
